Catholic Church, Phoenixville, PA
Phoenixville, PA, Mar. 3, 2013 St Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church will
host painter, artist, and iconographer CHRISTINA DOCHWAT on Sunday, Mar. 3,
2013. This remarkable lady has painted
the interiors of churches, individual icons, and iconostases in over 75 Ukrainian
Catholic, Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches in the United States. Perhaps the most well-known is the Cathedral
of the Immaculate Conception of the BVM in Philadelphia, the ornamentation of
the Byzantine Chapel of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in DC
and the Vyshhorod icon of Virgin Elevsa, Ukrainian Catholic University in Rome.
The parish of St. Peter and Paul
is proud that the beautiful iconostas in the church is the work of Christina
Dochwat. She will share her perspective
and insight about religious art and her creative works that enrich our place of
worship. The seminar will begin
immediately after the 10 am Divine Liturgy, at approximately 11:30 am.
Following the lecture everyone
is invited to a reception in the church hall. Seminar is FREE and open to the
public. Reception $10 , no reservations
necessary.
Christina Dochwat was born in western
Ukraine and emigrated to the US in 1947.
She studied art at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL and at the
University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA.
She resides in Jeffersonville, PA.
