On December 12th, 2017, Metropolitan-Archbishop
Stefan Soroka, together with Bishop John Bura, Bishop Andriy Rabiy and the
Rector of the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in Philadelphia, Very Rev. Roman Pitula
welcomed the Mother General of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate, Sister
Sofija Lebedowicz, SSMI, and two of her councilors, Sister Janice Soluk, SSMI
of Canada, and Sister Petra Sicakovia, SSMI of Slovakia. The Sisters were accompanied by nine Sister
Servants of Mary Immaculate from Sloatsburg, among them Sister Kathleen Hutsko,
Provincial of the Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate in USA.
The visit began with a festive dinner hosted at the
Archbishop’s Residence. It was followed by the celebration of a Moleben to the
Mother of God before the magnificent mosaic of Blessed Josaphata Hordashevska,
SSMI, (foundress of the SSMI) in our Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the
Immaculate Conception. All present were
able to personally venerate the relics of Blessed Josaphata, SSMI for their
personal needs. Our guests then visited
the Treasury of Faith Museum, located below the Cathedral. The visit concluded with private discussions
between the Mother General, her councilors, with Metropolitan Stefan, Bishop
John and Bishop Andriy.
