A 40th Day Divine Liturgy and a Panakyhda Service were offered for +Very Rev. Joseph Szupa, former Chancellor of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Metropolitan-Archbishop Stefan Soroka in the Bishop's Residence Chapel. The Panakhyda Service was offered at the Chapel of the Chancery with Chancery Staff in Philadelphia, PA on August 19, 2016. Eternal Memory!

Events for the Feast of the Dormition
The Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God
The day of the death of the Most Holy Mother of God is called the Dormition (or falling asleep) in our Church, for her body did not know corruption after death, but together with her soul was taken up into heaven, hence, another name for the feast is “the Assumption.”
We have the custom of blessing flowers on the feast of the Dormition.
On August 13-14, 2016, the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate will hold their 62nd Annual Holy Dormition Pilgrimage in Sloatsburg, NY. Please see their flyer on their website at http://ssmi-us.org/index.php?categoryid=3&p2_articleid=177
